Born on the 30th of June 1948 in Wuppertal, Nordehein, Westfalen, Wolf started studying graphic design and writing at a very young age, he began his education at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and he passed out in the year 1974. After that he started working as an illustrator for various magazines like Stem and Esquire and his first ever assignment was a children’s book that came in the year 1985. After initiating his career in illustration, Wolf became a professor at the University of Wuppertal and he began teaching various techniques of illustration. Although Wolf never wanted to make himself categorized as a child book author so he sued various references in his children’s books and used to add them in his works. Leonard is one of the famous books that got him fame and recognition throughout the country, while this character and this story were all based on his child/son Leonard who is an author himself now. The story of Leonard is about a boy who overcomes the fear of dogs in his life by becoming a dog himself.
