As per the office of the San Mateo County Sheriff, witnesses were addressed at the time of the attack, but when the police officers reached, the victim was already lost her life. The local media outlets stated the weapon that the suspect used for murder was a sword, but the police officials have only explained it as a “stabbing instrument”. The victim was the mother of 2 kids, one of whom is the daughter of Landeata who is just 1-year-old. After the lethal assail, the suspect run away on foot 2 blocks away but later came back to the crime scene defenceless, as stated by the officials of the sheriff.

The suspect was instantly taken into the custody of the police and booked into the prison, where he is getting the punishment for his crime and remain behind the bar sans jail. Martin Castro the father of Karina informed the media publication that “I am missing my daughter badly. My heart and life are empty sans her. She was not only my daughter but was my best friend.” On Friday, 9th September 2022, he grieved at the crime scene of the killing. Many of her pals of Karina Castro also penned tributes to her on social media platforms. Sara McDowell the Mayor of San Carlos stated in the released statement that the community remains stunned by the “tragic” killing. The Mayor stated that “The City Council and its co-workers join our community in order to express our deepest thought to the 2 young kids who lost their mother in the senseless and horrific act of violence and also to all the family, loved ones and the friends of the victim who are currently going through with this pain.” In the meantime, a GoFundMe account has been established for their family of Castro.
